Hayden Wright

General Manager

Co-Owner of COMAG and a born & bred Matamata local, Hayden has been with the company since early 2000’s when he started as an afterschool boy.

Progressing by leaving Matamata College for an apprenticeship and becoming a certifying Plumber & Gasfitter.

While working on some of the companies flagship projects over the years in remote locations, he ended up in the office as Plumbing Operations Manager for a number of years and Recently transitioned to General Manager.

He enjoys growing the company and looking for the next opportunity, whilst keeping that local community-based company feel.

Weekends are normally occupied by spending time with his wife and three children or trying to find time to go fishing.

Rene Thomson

Estimating Manager

Rene is an invaluable asset to Comag with his extensive experience and expertise in plumbing, gasfitting and roofing. As the Estimating Manager, he plays a crucial role in ensuring that all tenders are handled efficiently and completed on time, which is essential for the company's success in securing projects. His ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and main contractors further enhances Comag's reputation and contributes to its overall success in the industry.

Outside of his professional commitments, Rene's involvement with the Matamata Club's board reflects his community engagement. His weekends at the beach with his wife, indulging in fishing and relaxation, provide a well-deserved break from his busy schedule.

Chris Henderson

Roofing Manager

Local through and through, Chris has been a part of this community for a long time. With a wealth of experience in roofing, his knowledge often comes in handy. He never asks his staff to do anything he wouldn't or hasn't done himself.

Chris started at Comag in 1994 as an apprentice. He became a Licensed Building Practitioner and won the NZ Roofing Excellence Award in 2011. By 2012, he was Plumbing and Roofing Operations Manager, later focusing solely on roofing. Since 2023, he serves as Roofing Manager.

Chris has been on the Hinuera Rugby Club committee since 1998 and serves on the Board of Trustees at Matamata College. His passion is fishing, especially with his wife and three daughters. He looks forward to duck shooting season with friends, and passionately supports the Chiefs, All Blacks, Black Ferns, Black Caps, and NZ Sail GP.

James Nicholson

Roofing Operations

Jimmy's story at Comag began in 2014, when he joined the team as a roofer. Over the years, he grew both personally and professionally, becoming a director in 2018. Today, he leads the roofing department as Operations Manager. 

In Jimmy's spare time he enjoys chilling out with his wife and kids, watching sport and having a beer (or two).

Tim Laing

Plumbing Operations Manager

Tim is a certifying Plumber and Gasfitter. He started at Comag at just 13 sweeping floors until he came on full-time when he turned 17. Coming from Matamata College, he began his plumbing and gasfitting apprenticeship with Comag, where he worked full-time for 14 years and became a company director in 2018. His passion is commercial projects and gasfitting/problem-solving. 

He's lived in Matamata his whole life and in his downtime enjoys spending time with family and friends, getting out on the boat for a fish.

Andrew Foy

Drainage Project Manager

Andrew has been working at Comag for 26 years. He came to Comag straight out of school being offered apprenticeships in both roofing and drainlaying, choosing drainlaying and has never regretted his decision! He is extremely hardworking and very passionate about his job, becoming one of our Comag Directors in 2018.

Outside of work Andrew enjoys quality time with his family and enjoys anything outdoors such as fishing and hunting.

Jamie Fanning

Estimator

Jamie first started working at Comag in 2017 in the role of Store Manager. He has since transitioned into an Estimator role and has gone on to complete a Diploma in Quantity Surveying.

Jamie prices Plumbing, Drainage & Roofing for both commercial and residential projects, ranging from new builds through to renovations. 

Outside of work, he can be found spending time with his young family, or at Mt Smart Stadium supporting his beloved Warriors.

Bob Osborne

Estimator

Bob began his career as a registered craftsman plumber at the old Bruce Magan Company around 1979. After some time, he left to pursue farming for about 17 years. He then returned to Comag as a plumber and roofer. Later, Bob transitioned into an office position as a contracts coordinator.

Outside of work, Bob enjoys fishing, gardening, home brewing his own beer, and spending time with his grandkids.

Dennis Greaves

Store Manager

Dennis began his role as Store Manager at Comag in 2019. He manages the inwards and outwards goods, ensuring that Roofers, Drainlayers and Plumbers have the necessary stock. As an A-Grade Mechanic & Refrigeration Engineer, Dennis is a highly versatile member of the team, maintaining the diverse vehicle fleet and delivering diggers and mobile platforms throughout the district.

In his spare time, Dennis can be found spending time with his family, hunting, or playing 8 Ball. He also serves as the current President of the Matamata RSA.

Marty Capener

Health & Safety Manager

Marty has worked for Comag since 2016 as the Health and Safety Manager. His roles include all matters related to H&S, sub-contractor pre qualifications, site audits, accident/incident investigations and he also looks after the vehicle maintenance side of the company as well. He enjoys being out and about doing site audits and strengthening client relationships.  

Outside of work Marty enjoys time with family and friends, going to the beach, fishing, snooker and astrophotography.

Liana Fraser

Office Manager

Liana works alongside the wonderful office staff team, dealing in accounts and administration assistance for the Directors. Liana joined Comag in 2022 after previously working in the Insurance industry for 15 years.

When not at work you can find Liana on a sideline supporting her 3 teenagers in their sporting endeavours and any extra spare time is spent at the beach.

Stacey started working for us in 1989, so just a few years of service!  Her main roles are payroll for our expanding Company and accounts.  She likes to interact with customers and staff.

She loves a good laugh and thoroughly enjoys working alongside the other great office staff.

When not at work, Stacey enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing with a good book.

Shannan Wright

Accounts & Reception

Read about Shannan

Shannan joined Comag in 2021. Shannan is responsible for a wide range of general office duties from answering calls, warmly welcoming customers into our office and providing general administration support. She ensures the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis and has recently taken on the responsibility of managing our Comag social media.

Outside of work, Shannan enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, hiking, playing sports, and skiing on the mountain during winter.
